Discover the Joy of Preparing for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Are you going to be the host this year for Christmas festivities? There comes a lot of stress with this role, but it is something that you may want to do, and we encourage you to do this! After all, who doesn’t love having memories of all your friends and family gathering to celebrate a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas?! The key is to do this in a way that helps you prepare for all the stress and things that you need to do. We want your hosting to be out of this world great, so much so that everyone talks about the wonderful gathering for years and wants you to host this each year.

Decorate Your Home with Holiday Cheer

1. Have a plan! What is your plan for the event? Will you have food, drinks, music, gift opening, etc.? The first thing that you need to do to prepare for a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas is to know just what your hosting event is going to be. Write all this down so you have everything in writing and won’t forget things!

2. Create a menu. Most anytime that you host something, there will be a menu that you need to plan. Plan this in advance so that you know just what you need and the amount that you are going to need this. Remember, if you are finding yourself swamped with all the hosting responsibilities, you could always dictate this gathering as a potluck or decide to cater this event.

3. It is the small things that are going to make a difference when you are hosting. This means that you are going to want to have all your decor and gifts wrapped in advance, so you are not trying to do this all right before people arrive. We suggest putting up the decor at least two weeks in advance so that you know it looks perfect and will be the best backdrop for a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas.

4. Don’t forget to ask for help from those who may be attending. It is not wrong to ask someone to bring ice or napkins to the event if you need these. It can help people to feel better about coming since they will be supplying something other than themselves for the event.

5. Hosting 101 will tell you that you need to be ready to receive your guests. So, before they arrive, do a final walk through your house to make sure everything looks great and have the food ready to go. Get yourself ready and be prepared to smile and answer your door. Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas when they get there to help them feel welcomed.

6. If you give a speech to all those that are in attendance, be sure to thank them for coming. Make this about their attendance, not talking about all that you did to prepare for the event. It needs to be warm and inviting when speaking, so raise a glass and do just that!
